A bit about Cocoa

Cocoa contains antioxidant polyphenols, whose consumption can improve heart and blood vessel health, protect the brain, and improve skin health. Cocoa is used to reduce weight gain, reduce fatigue, stimulate the nervous system, and improve digestive function, among others things. Cocoa comes from beans produced by the Theobroma cacaotree and contains many active components. The Latin name Theobroma cacao, translates to “Food of the Gods.” The cacao tree stands about 12-25 feet tall and grows naturally in tropical climates. The fruit of the cocoa tree is a pod full of sweet pulp enfolding a cluster of about 20-40 cacao seeds.
